ISTA Logistics Testing

As a custom crating and wood pallet supplier we also offer the service of ISTA package testing. ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) test procedures are some of the most widely used test procedures in the industry. These test procedures or variations thereof are used by most shippers including UPS and Fed Ex and are recognized by the National Motor Freight Classification. ISTA exists to provide a variety of programs, services, and activities to enhance the art and science of packaged-product distribution. Package certification helps create a package that will adequately protect against shock, vibration, compression and/or atmospheric hazards of the distribution environment.

ISTA testing can also reduce or eliminate the need for trial shipments, getting new products to market faster while insuring their survival. Testing strengthens our customer's position in claims negotiations because it establishes the adequacy of the package, thus encouraging carriers and claims inspectors to look for other causes of damage and to settle or accept settlement more quickly. This results in reduced number of claims and claims processing expenses.

Customer satisfaction: Customers return if their product arrives in perfect condition. All engineering, manufacturing, quality and sales efforts are wasted when a customer receives a damaged product. The TRANSIT TESTED concept is based on Performance Testing and Certification. ISTA has established a program of transport package performance testing standards and a certification process for the identification of transport packages, testing laboratories and test practitioners.

Series 1 Testing Non-Simulation Integrity Performance Tests: Challenge the strength and robustness of the product and package combination. Not designed to simulate environmental occurrences. Useful as screening tests, particularly when used as a consistent benchmark over time.

Although Goeman's Wood Products, Inc. does not do ISTA testing on-site we have partnered with several testing laboratories that assist us in successful testing and certification for our customers before any products are shipped. ISTA testing can be performed on wood pallets as well as on any crates or wood packaging. Contact us for more information on our ISTA testing.
